Saturday, 1/5/2008 . New Year 7 Mile Day Hike / Level C
Raccoon Brook Hills, Harriman State Park
Starting from the Seven Lake Drive Visitor Center, follow Seven Hills (Blue) then HTS (Orange) to Russian Bear. Change to Raccoon Brook Hills (Black) to Pine Meadow Lake. Return on Pine Meadow (Red). ***Be prepared for the snow and icy trail. Hiking boots, hiking pole and gloves are required, gaitor, Stabil icers are highly recommended.

Norvin Green State Forest, NJ
Start from Otter Hole parking lot, follow HB (blue) to Carris Hill, Yoo-Hoo Point to the shelter. After lunch, follow the Blue Mine Brook, then OH (Green) back to the parking lot. Relatively flat terrain, but look out for icy and slippery trail conditions

Storm King State Park, NY
Start from Mt. Road parking lot, follow Stillman Trail (Yellow), Howell Trail (Blue) to North Point. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Hudson River along the mountain ridge.

Pound Mountain, Harriman State Park
Start at Tuxedo train station. Trip covers the Pound Mt. and Daters Mt. area. Hiking boots and hiking pole are required. Dress warmly for winter and bring winter hiking gears.

Harriman State Park, NY (JTC - Time Squares - JTC)
Start at Blue Disc; Climb Daters Mt. & Pound Mt; Change to RD Red; Climb Black Ash Mt., Parker Cabin Mt., & Tom Jones Mt.; Cross Rt.106; Continue on RD Red. (Ramapo-Dunderberg) until reaching Time Squares; Change to ASB (red) and switch to White Bar. Return on White Bar all the way back to JTC parking lot. Expect lots of up and down in the morning; Climb 2 long hills in the afternoon, then change to a gentle pace. Experienced hikers only!

An experience sharing, get together party for all members and friends. Harriman State Park, NY (JTC . Time Square. JTC)
Start at Blue Disc, climb Daters Mt. & Pound Mt. change to RD Red, climb Black Ash Mt., Parker Cabin Mt., & Tom Jones Mt., cross Rt.106 continue on RD Red. (Ramapo-Dunderberg) until reaching Time Squares, change to ASB (red) and switch to White Bar. Return on White Bar all the way back to JTC parking lot. Expect lots of up & down hills in the morning, climbing 2 long hills in the afternoon changing to a gentle pace. Experienced hikers only!

Lake Askoti, Harriman State Park, NY
Start from Long Path Blue to Bowling Rocks; will split into two groups at White Bar; both groups return on A-SB Red. This is a scenic trail in winter season to enjoy the Seven Lakes. Please wear warm clothes and dress in layers. Hiking pole is a must!

The Timp, Bear Mt. State Park
Starting from Rt 202 Parking Lot, follow Timp-Torne (Blue) to The Timp and Timp Pass. In the afternoon, change to RD (Red) to Bald Mt. and back to the parking lot. Many terrific view points but prepare for some steep slopes in the morning.

Starting from Johnsontown Circle, follow the Blue Disc (blue) trail to Dater Mt. and Pound Mt. Then change to RD (Red) to Parker Cabin Mt. Ater lunch, change to Triangle (Yellow) downhill to Lake Skenonto then take the White Bar leisurely back to the parking lot. Enjoy both mountain and lake views.

Doodletown Path Bridge, Bear Mountain State Park
Start from Route 9 near Bear Mtn Inn. Hike begins with a short but steep climb along a river. Visit the remains of a mine. Have lunch at the top where a panoramic view is outstanding.

Breakneck Ridge, Hudson Highlands State Park
One of the most famous hiking spots on the eastern bank of the Hudson River. The hike starts off with some steep slopes then levels off to Sunset Point. After lunch, follow the Memorial (yellow) trail to Sugarloaf Mt. and back to the parking lot.

Saturday 3/29/2008 - 7 Mile Day Hike / Level C
Black Rock Forest
The forest is famous for its reservoirs, ponds and the ridges. The easier hike takes advantage of the carriage roads. The more difficult hike follows the trails on the ridges. However no one will miss the view atop the Black Rock Summit.

Parker Cabin Mountain at Harriman State Park, NY
Start from Red trail to Tom Jones Mountain (1289 Ft.), which is hilly but mostly easy trails to lunch sport. Return path passes Lake Skenonto

Sunday 4/6/2008 - 20 Mile Day Hike / Level F (Gin.s 26-mile hike training Session #5)
Harriman State Park, NY (JTC . WaterTower . JTC)
Start at Blue Disc, climb Daters Mt. and Pound Mt., change to RD Red, climb Black Ash Mt., Parker Cabin Mt., & Tom Jones Mt., cross Rt.106 continue on RD Red. (Ramapo-Dunderberg) until reaching AT. Follow AT to Water Tower. Hike on unmarked trail for 1.5 miles until reaching LP (Blue). LP connects to White Bar. Follow White Bar all the way back to JTC parking lot. Expect lots of up and down hills both in the morning and afternoon. Experienced hikers only!

Silvermine Lake at Harriman State Park, NY
Start from Silvermine Lake Picnic Area, follow Yellow trail, connect to RD, reach Torati Lake, return by the Blue Trail (Long Path), turn to Yellow trail, and return to Silvermine Lake Picnic Area.

Sunday 4/13/2008 - 22-24 Mile Day Hike / Level F
Harriman State Park, NY (JTC . Water Tower . AT . JTC)
Start at Blue Disc, climb Daters Mt. and Pound Mt., change to RD Red, climb Black Ash Mt., Parker Cabin Mt. and Tom Jones Mt., cross Rt.106 continue on RD Red. (Ramapo-Dunderberg) until reaching AT. Follow AT to Water Tower. Return on LP (Blue) and switch to AT again. Follow AT to Island Pond for an extra 2.5 miles loop. Return along White Bar all the way back to parking lot. Expect lots of ups and downs both in the morning and afternoon. Experienced hikers only!

Saturday 4/19/2008 - 6 Mile Day Hike / Level B
Hook Mountain State Park, Nyack NY
Start at Nyack Beach State Park. Then head up the cliff to the summit of Hood Mountain on the Long Path. There are many outstanding views over the Hudson River along the cliff. The returning trail is right along the river back to the Park and passes overhanging rocks and talus slopes to the right with many good views of the cliff.

This is our annual 26-miles day hike in memory of Gin Goon, the co-founder of CMCNY who passed away in Oct. 2003. This hike has been renamed to (Gin.s 26 Miles Day Hike) to honor him. Gin started 26 miles day hike and this hike has became his signature trip for many years. The hike is strenuous with different levels and terrain conditions. Experienced hikers only! Pine Meadow Lake, Harriman State Park, NY
Season.s kick off hike for CMCNY! This is an introduction hike for beginners and families. The trail is mostly flat and easy. We will start at the Visitor Center, and have lunch by the side of Pine Meadow Lake. Please bring your own water and food. And remember to wear comfortable shoes.

Saturday 5/10/2008 - Semi-annual Trail Maintenance (Shore Path) / Level A & B
Palisades Interstate Park, NY/NJ
Trail maintenance on the path trail along the Hudson River in New Jersey. Pick up trash, trim protruding branches, etc. Trip leaders will provide tools. Light refreshments will be offered at the end of activity. This is a very important event for the club as its our duty to serve our community and conserve the nature for the future.

Schunemunk Mountain, NY
The trail over Schunemunk Mountain offers a series of fine lookouts and a varied terrain. The complete traverse makes a good day trip. Expect quite a steep descent, be prepared!

Saturday 5/24/2008 - 3 Days Memorial Day Family Camping (Limit 50 People)
Lake Waramaug, Connecticut
This camp site is located near the border of New York in Connecticut. Activities include short hikes to water falls and mountain trails, fishing, boating, biking, touring in nearby old towns and vineyards.Camping gears are required. Fees: $20 member, $25 non-member, free for Children under 10 - (include 1st night BBQ) Register: Please contact Chung Leung before May 15.

Saturday 5/31/2008 - 7 - 10 Mile Day Hike / Level C & D
Stonetown Circular, North Jersey
Starting at the parking lot at Stonetown Road, climb up Little Windbeam, Windbeam, Bear and Board Mountains, a total of 6 grueling peaks. However the views on the surrounding reservoirs and The waters of reservoirs, lakes and even the silhouette of the Manhattan skyline from a distance offer a great reward. The short hike will take a shuttle back at White Road. The long hike will take another 3 some miles relatively flat trails back to the parking lot.
