Saturday 1/3/2009 - 8 Mile Day Hike / Level C
Russian Bear/Pine Meadow Lake, Harriman State Park, NY
Start from the 7 Lakes Drive visitor center, follow the blue trail, then orange trail to Russian Bear. After enjoying the view of the Ramapo valley, then go down to Pine Meadow Lake. Take a walk around the lake for the winter view and return to the visitor center through the white trail along the Stony Brook.

Day hike - start from Rt. 202 parking lot, walk up to West Mountain and return on #1777w.
Back packing - will stay over night at West mountain shelter. Start short hike in the morning and return on Suffern-Bear Mt. back to Bear Mt. Inn parking lot. Please call leader for details for Back packing trip.

Start from Long Path Blue to Bowing Rock, will separate into two groups at White Bar, both groups return on A-SB Red. This is the scenic trail in winter season to enjoy the Seven Lake. Please wear warm cloth and dress in layers. Hiking pole is a must!

Bearfort Mountain, NJ/NY
Take the Orange trail to Surprise Lake, then follow blue and AT to the Grand View. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Greenwood Lake. After lunch, follow the yellow to connect to the white trail back to the parking lot. The B level hike will follow the yellow short cut to the white trail without going to the Grand View

Black Rock Forest
The forest is famous for its reservoirs, ponds and the ridges. The easier hike takes advantage of the carriage roads. The more difficult hike follows the trails on the ridges. However no one will miss the views atop the Black Rock Summit.

Claudius Smith Den/Parker Cabin Mtn.
Starting from Johnsontown Circle, hike along the Pound Mtn ridge to the gorgeous rock formation at Claudius Smith Den. Hike slowly on the uphills and enjoy the views. Continue on the scenic Black Ash Mtn ridge to the lunch spot at Parker Cabin Mtn. Return by the relatively flat routes passing the lakes of Skenonto and Sebago.

Johnsontown Circle - Lemon Squeezer Loop
Start at Blue Disc trail, climb Daters Mt. & Pound Mt.. Change to RD Red trail, climb Black Ash Mt., Parker Cabin Mt., & Tom Jones Mt.. Cross Rt.106, then continue on RD Red trail to AT. Black Rock/ Island Pond Loop
From the Rt 106 trailhead, go North on the RD trail (red dot) to the Black Rock viewpoint. Continue to hike along the scenic mountain ridge to the Goldthwaite Memorial. Take the Lichen trail to descend to Lemon Squeezer. Connect to the AT heading to Island Pond. Take the flat Island Pond Road then the Nurian (White) trail back to Black Rock and descend to Rt 106.

Start on Blue Disc trail from Johnsontown Circle. Be prepared for uphill climbing for approx. 2 miles. Take a late lunch at Lake Skenonto with a lake view. Go back along the White-Bar trail at a leisurely walking pace.

West Mountain & The Timp
Starting at the 7 Lakes Drive Trail head, follow the AT trail to climb up West Mountain. Enjoy many lookout points along the ridge. Level B hikers will follow Yellow trail to return to the parking lot after lunch at the shelter. The Level C hikers venture out to the Timp for lunch, then return by 1777 Red taild to the parking lot.

Our annual 26-miles day hike is in memory of Gin Goon, the co-founder of CMCNY who passed away in Oct. 2003. This hike has been renamed to Gin's 26 Miles Day Hike to honor him. Gin started 26 miles day hike and it has become his signature trip for many years. The hike is strenuous with different levels and terrain conditions. Experienced hikers only! This is a shorter version of the 26-mile hike. We start at the same place in Tuxedo Park, hike 15 miles and try to finish just ahead of 26-mile marathoners to welcome them back. We welcome everyone to join. Prepare for a well paced hike.

Saturday 4/18/2009 - 6 Mile Day Hike / Level B
Jackie Jones Mtn and the three reservoirs
From half way up Jackie Jones Mtn, veer off to the service roads to visit the three reservoirs. Have early lunch at the reservoirs. After Lunch, hike leisurely to the Big Hill Shelter and the fire tower. Enjoy the views of Lake Welch and the surrounding mountains. You might meet some of the long distance hikers here and give them a surprise welcome.

Schunemunk Mountain, NY
The trail over Schunemunk Mountain offers a series of fine lookouts and a varied terrain. The complete traverse makes a good day trip. Expect quite a steep descent. Be prepared!

Saturday 5/2/2009 - 5 Mile Kick Off Hike / Level A
Pine Meadow Lake, Harriman State Park, NY
Season's kick-off hike for CMCNY! The level A hike is for beginners and families. The trail is mostly flat and easy. It starts from the Visitor Center and goes along the brook to Pine Meadow Lake. There are many opportunities for taking photos. Have lunch at the lake and return.
The level C hike takes you up the Raccoon Brook Hills. Then circles around the lake and return. Many different terrains will be explored. Please bring your own water and food; and wear comfortable shoes.

Tuxedo park / Lake Sebago
Starting from Tuxedo Park, hike up the Ramapo Dunderberg trail to enjoy the view overlooking the surrounding hills and valleys. Then change to the flat Victory and Triangle trails to the lakes of Skenonto and Sebago. Saturday 5/16/2009 - 2 Days Biking/Camping Trip
North/ South Fork, Eastern Long Island
Day 1: set up camp at Hither Hills State Park, South Fork. Then, there is a biking trip of 50 plus miles between Montauk Lighthouse and Sag Harbor. A Partial loop about 40 miles or less is also available.
Day 2: there is a 35 mile biking trip through Mattituck, Greenport and Orient Point, North Fork. May visit a winery on the way.

Novin Green State Forest
Start from the Otter Hole trailhead. Follow Blue trail, then white trail to Chikahoki Falls. Climb up Carris Hill, then Yoo-Hoo Points and High Points. Visit all the lookout points and return to the trailhead.

Saturday 5/23/2009 - Memorial Day Family Camping (Limit 35 Persons)
Kenneth Wilson State Park, Catskill
With the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, Kenneth Wilson campground features large, secluded and wooded campsites. Facilities on site include flush toilet, hot shower, play fields, beaches and boat/canoe rentals. There are plenty of bike routes and hiking trails near by. Please prepare your own camping equipments.
Fees: Include 1st night BBQ. $20 for members, $24 for non-members, and children under 10 are free.

Starting from Johnsontown Circle, follow the Blue Disc Trail. Climb up the huge rock formation at the Almost Perpendicular to enjoy the views of Dater and Pound Mtns. Hike along the ridge of Black Ash Mtn. to Parker Cabin Mtn. Then descend to Lake Skenonto for lunch. After lunch, visit Lake Sebago and hike leisurely back to the parking lot.

Saturday 5/30/2009 - Semi-annual Trail Maintenance (Shore Path) / Level B
Palisades Interstate Park, NY/NJ
The Trail maintenance is on the path trail along the Hudson River in New Jersey. We will pick up trash, trim protruding branches, etc. Trip leaders will provide tools. Light refreshments will be offered at the end of the activity. This is a very important event for the club as it's our duty to serve our community and conserve the nature for the future.

Saturday 6/6/2009 - 6 & 9 Mile Day Hikes / Level B & Level C
Secret Garden Trail, Harriman State Park
The hike starts from Lake Askoti and heads to Time Square. Then follows the Surebridge Mine Road heading North to Upper Lake Cohasset. Enjoy the many blooming wild flowers along the path. Take the returning route via RD and ASB trails to Lake Askoti. The C level hikers go further to visit the Bradley Mine.

Breakneck Mountain, Cold Spring, NY
This is one of the most famous hiking spots on the eastern bank of the Hudson River. Enjoy spectacular views of the Hudson River along the ridge. The trails are rocky for the first half mile and some rock climbing is required.

From Ringwood Manor\'s parking lot, we will cut through the heart of the park to reach the ridgeline viewpoints. Then loop back past the historic Skylands Manor.

Kittatinny Mtn., Del Water Gap, NJ
Hike up Mount Tammany to view the gorgeous geology of the water gap. Then follow the flat fire road on the ridge to Sunfish Pond. Return by the AT trail. Easy hikers can descend from Mt. Tammany to visit the Dunnfield Creek before meeting the AT to end the hike.

Saturday 6/27/2009 - One Day Canoeing Trip
Delaware Water Gap, NJ
Adventure on the Delaware River! This is 10-mile canoeing/rafting trip in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area from Bushkill to Smithfield Beach. It is a 4-5 hours light paddling suitable for beginners, each canoe for 2 persons and the raft for 4 persons. Fees: Members: $40 / person; Non-members $42/ person. Register and give deposit before 6/15/2009.

The Timp/ Dunderberg Mtns, NY
Start from the Jones Point trailhead. Hike along Timp-Torne and visit the remains of the Dunderberg Spiral Railroad. Turn around at the Timp on the ridge of the Dunderberg Mtns. There are many nice views over the Hudson River and the mountain.

Friday 7/3/2009 - 3 Days Family Camping
Woodford State Park, Bennington, Vermont
Woodford State Park is located on a mountain plateau and surrounds Adams Reservoir. The high elevation spruce/fir/birch vegetation provides an ideal setting for the park. BBQ and campfire on the first night. Daytime activities: hiking, biking, swimming, canoeing etc. Please bring your own camping equipment (tent, sleeping bag, cooking utensil, etc.). Limit to 40 people. Fees (include BBQ): $25 for members, $30 for non-members, children under 10 are free.

Hook Mountain, New York
Starting at the trailhead near Rockland Park, go north to Haverstraw Park. If lucky, we will enjoy picking of RASPBERRY. Have lunch at the picnic area along the Hudson River. The C level hikers go further to visit the Hook Mountain via Nyack Beach. There are many outstanding viewpoints over the river along the cliff.

Starting from the IU Willet MS, bike on country roads to Oyster Bay. Visit Sagamore Hill, Roosevelt Memorial Sanctuary, Planting Fields Arboretum and many gorgeous estates on the way. Expect some busy traffics and hilly road.

Island Pond, Harriman State Park
Starting from Route 106 trailhead, follow the service road to Valley of Boulders. Then hike to an exclusive spot at Island Pond for Lunch. On return, visit Boston Mine, the Shelter at Bald Rocks and Black Rock along the Ramapo-Dunderberg trail. The hike is among boulders, river and lake. The C level hikers extend the hike to visit Lemon Squeezer and Ship Rock.

Starting from Route 106 trailhead, climb Tom Jones Mtn and Parker Cabin Mtn. Then descend to Lake Sabego for Lunch. Beach lovers can bring swimming suit and opt to stay on the beach. Hikers continue to visit the Bowling Rocks and Black Rocks before returning to the parking lot.

Valley of Boulders & Lake Stahahe, Harriman State Park
Leaving the parking lot of Elk Pen, the hike will follow the sparkling water of Stahahe Brooke and eventually reach a beautiful waterfall. Enjoy the cool water under the waterfall or soak your feet in one of the gem pools above the fall. A steep climb out of some giant boulders, we continue on Island Pond Road for approximately ¼ mile and turn right to a small dirt road. The road leads to Stahahe High Peak and a stunningly view of Stahahe Lake is just below. If possible, we will hike down to the lake and return back via White Bar and AT to parking lot.

Starting from the Visitor Center, follow the Reeves Brook (white) trail to the Pulpit viewpoint. Then follow the Raccoon Brook Trail (black) to go down to Pine Meadow Lake. Have lunch at the lake. After lunch, go up Diamond Mtn on the Yellow Trail, then connect to HTS (orange) trail to go down to the brooke. After visiting the Cascade of Slid, follow the Pine Meadow trail (red) back to the Visitor Center.

Ice Cave of the Shawangunk, Hudson Valley, New York
Will visit the Ice Cave and may explore the Shingle Gully/Grand Canyon area. Long pants are required for hiking through trails with dense scrubs. Bring plenty of water (at least 2 liters), a long sleeve jacket and a headlight. (Experienced hikers only).

Saturday 9/5/2009 - 6 Mile Day Hike / Level B
Popolopen Torne, Bear Mtn, NY
Starting from Fort Montgomery, follow the Blue trail to Popolopen Torne. Some rock scrambling is required, but the panoramic view at the Torne is rewarding. Return by taking the Red trail along the Hell Hole Creek to Hessian Lake at Bear Mtn. and Fort Clinton.

Saturday 9/5/2009 - 3 Days Camping
Sharp Bridge State Campground, Adirondacks, NY
Camp at the Sharp Bridge Campground in the high peaks region of Adirondacks. Make day hikes to the high peaks of Dix, Big Slide, Wolfjaws, Gothics…or the NY state highest--Mt. Marcy. Enjoy the fresh air and the scenery in the high mountains. Option to start camping on 9/4 (Friday). Limit to 40 people. Fees: $20 members, $25 non-members, Children under 10 are free. Saturday 9/12/2009 - 7 & 9 Mile Day Hike / Levels B & C
Lake Askoti/ Lemon Squeezer
Follow ASB all the way to the huge boulders of Lemon Squeezer. Get the experience of squeezing in between the boulders. Return by the White Bar, Dunning and then the Long Path. Level C hikers extend the hike to Island Pond and Valley of Boulders. Enjoy the early fall scenery.
